Introduction:
Harassment in the workplace is probably one of the most publicized areas of harassment law. And, lawsuits based on harassment are on the rise. As an employer, you need to do everything you can to protect your place of employment against costly litigation and monetary settlement costs that can drain your financial resources.
Harassment occurs if an action, comment, or activity falls under one of the human rights grounds which include race, religious beliefs, colour, gender, sexual orientation, physical or mental disability, marital status, age, ancestry, place of origin, family status, or source of income, and the action, comment or activity is unwelcome, intimidating, or offensive to the recipient.
Rationale:
Employers and employees are subject to, and protected by the Human Rights, Citizenship and Multiculturalism Act. Employers are responsible for maintaining a work environment free from harassment.
Solution:
Our fast-paced, interactive workshop introduces concepts of harassment and helps employees understand what it is; employs multi-media to demonstrate various harassment scenarios; includes a break-out session with case studies for discussion; and presents the organization’s policy clearly outlining the complaint process. Misunderstandings arising from cultural and generational diversity are addressed as well as cyber-bullying and social media.
If you already have a policy, we’ll deliver the training to make it ‘real.’ If you don’t, we’ll help you write your anti-harassment policy to ensure it addresses the legal requirements as well as reflects the ‘culture’ of your organization. If you are a non-profit entity, we’ll even train your trainers!
